Empowerment of women by Prakash Foundation addresses the ways in which developmental initiatives create the conditions whereby women can become the agents of their own development and empowerment. Empowerment is the ability to exercise power, so each woman should be given opportunities to exercise power. We are providing the resources for them to feel empowered. We are providing them skill based trainings like stitching, crochet work, diya decorations, paper bag making. This helps them to learn and earn After undergoing the trainings these ladies develop products like tray covers, tea –cozy, table mats, runners, dresses, cushion covers, shagun envelops, paper bags, etc. We also conduct workshops on art and craft to enable them to learn various ways to decorate the products. These products are then sold to generate income for the ladies.
English Training for Women
When in school many people do not realize the value of education, especially when it comes to girl education. Same happened with the ladies who came to us to learn English. The realization of valuing education came when their young children started feeling bad about their mother not being able to read English. That’s the time when the ladies come to us, they wanted to learn English and avoid their children from feeling embarrassed. While we teach English the focus is more on writing and speaking understanding instead of speaking. Starting from the basic level we teach them how to read correctly and understand the meanings. We advise them to carry their children’s school books during the training so that we can use those books for teaching. This further helps them in learning and also teaching their own children.
